Bolaamphiphile-based supramolecular gels with drugs eliciting membrane effects

نویسندگان

چکیده

Supramolecular chemistry has garnered important interest in recent years toward improving therapeutic efficacy via drug delivery approaches. Although self-assemblies have been deeply investigated, the design of novel drugs leveraging supramolecular is less known. In this contribution, we show that a Low Molecular Weight Gel (LMWG) can elicit cancer cell apoptosis. This biological effect results from unique properties bolaamphiphile-based gelator, which allow for strong interaction with lipid membrane. supramolecular-drug paradigm opens up new possibilities applications targeting membrane lipids.

Supramolecular Based Membrane Sensors

Supramolecular chemistry can be defined as a field of chemistry, which studies the complex multi-molecular species formed from molecular components that have relatively simpler structures. This field has been subject to extensive research over the past four decades. This review discusses classification of supramolecules and their application in design and construction of ion selective sensors.

Supramolecular gels based on boronate esters and imidazolyl donors.

Dative boron-nitrogen bonds can be used for the controlled assembly of boronate esters and N-donor ligands. So far, most investigations have focused on crystalline assemblies. In contrast, there are very few reports about soft materials based on dative B-N bonds. Here, we describe the formation of gels by aggregation of diboronate esters and ditopic bisimidazolyl donor ligands. Analyses of low ...

Responsive supramolecular gels constructed by crown ether based molecular recognition.

Responsive supramolecular gels were constructed from crown ether terminated four-arm star poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL-DB24C8) and dibenzylammonium-terminated two-arm PCL-DBAS (see scheme), exploiting the formation of pseudorotaxane linkages between crown ether and ammonium moieties. The resultant supramolecular gels exhibit thermo- and pH-induced reversible gel-sol transition.

Highly fluorescent supramolecular gels with chirality transcription through hydrogen bonding.

A highly fluorescent organogel with transparency was formed through a hydrogen (H)-bonding interaction between a non-fluorescent and achiral 2-(3',5'-bis-trifluoromethyl-biphenyl-4-yl)-3-(4-pyridin-4-yl-phenyl)-acrylonitrile (CN-TFMBPPE) monomer and chiral sergeant l-tartaric acid (TA) (or d-TA), with gel formation being accompanied by a drastic fluorescence enhancement as well as chirality ind...

How should multicomponent supramolecular gels be characterised?

Low molecular weight gels, or supramolecular gels, are formed when small molecules self-assemble into fibrous structures. Above a critical concentration, the entanglement and cross-linking of these structures leads to the formation of a self-supporting gel. There are many examples where a single component is used to form such gels. There is however an ever-increasing interest in using multiple ...
